At Pappy’s Texas BBQ, we bring big, bold flavors straight from the heart of Texas. Our brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and smoked wings are cooked the authentic way—over oak, with time and care.

From juicy, tender brisket with that perfect bark to juicy ribs, everything we serve is packed with deep, smoky goodness. Wash it all down with an ice-cold Lone Star beer or a classic Southern sweet tea—because BBQ is more than food; it’s a way of life. Please note we ask for £10pp deposit on all bookings and is fully refundable with 48 hours’ notice.

Dining with your Dog

We’re not dog-friendly indoors, except for registered guide dogs.

On weekends, bank holidays, and from May half-term through to the end of August, we offer a small outdoor area for guests who wish to dine with their dogs. This space is available on a walk-in basis but also can be  booked in advance, however is subject to the weather and cancellation. Dogs are not permitted inside at any time.

GROUP BOOKINGS - HIGHCHAIRS

We’re a small, family-run restaurant with a big Texas heart — great smoke, good vibes and a small cozy indoor space. Because of our size, we ask guests to book ahead and note that large parties may be split across a few tables. We’re happy to host groups at lunchtime on the weekends and all evenings with early seating (4–5pm) or late seating (8–8:30pm). Please reserve your table online to request a reservation. 

A £10 per person deposit is required for all bookings and is fully refundable with 48 hours’ notice. Our famous Beef Rib is only available by pre-order for all which can be preordered via the confirmation email “create your preorder” link. Parties of 6 or more must pre-order all foods.

Please note: We have one wooden toddler chair with arms and a strap, but it’s not suitable for infants.

We might be tucked away a little but once you find us, you’ll be glad you did!
 
The easiest way to find us is just off the high street in Kendal. Our restaurants are tucked away down Smokehouse Yard just off Stricklandgate on Kendal High street. (In between Furness Building Society & Bodycare – opposite the bird cage undercover seating area)
 
You can also access Pappy’s from Booths Car Park via the underpass of Wainwright’s Yard (past Lakeland Kitchens).

We love our four-legged friends! Dogs are currently welcome outside only unfortunately, and our outdoor seating is only available in the summer months, and reserved for large group bookings of 8 or more.

Our indoor venue is small inside with a large step to enter so it is not suitable for accessing with a wheelchair, but our outdoor venue is wheelchair accessible.
 
You are best parking on the downstairs level of Booths Car Park and getting to Pappy’s via the underpass of Wainwright’s Yard (past lakeland kitchens). This way there is a wheelchair ramp and you can avoid the cobbles at the top of Smokehouse yard.
 
Yes we do! We have various options available to cater for festivals, weddings and private events. We can bring our Pop Up Truck for that fresh Texas BBQ taste onsite or deliver prepped meats and platters for your guests to enjoy. Find out more on our Hire Us page.
Yes! Most of our meats and sides are gluten free.
